Mike Ameen - Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Mike Ameen joined the O’Brien Energy Company management team as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in June of 2010. In that post, he is tasked with enhancing O’Brien Energy’s market and financial position. He is well equipped to do so because of his more than 25 years’ experience in successfully improving processes and instituting programs that advance company growth.
Mike’s academic background is in accounting, but his experience is in business development and expansion. Following a notable early career as a Certified Public Accountant, which led to his being made partner at a large Shreveport accounting firm, Mike took the reins as Chief Financial Officer for a major regional retail furniture company headquartered in Shreveport. During his tenure as CFO at Ivan Smith Furniture, Mike helped lead the way as the company expanded from 13 stores to more than 50 stores in 3 states, and established market dominance in the 25 cities where it does business. Mike’s business knowledge and leadership experience provide valuable assets as O’Brien Energy moves into the second decade of the 21st Century.
Mike Ameen holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a former Board Member at Centenary, and currently sits on the board of the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse for Northwest Louisiana. He is also President of the Louisiana Golf Association.
