Qiu Lu - Development Geologist
Qiu Lu is responsible for ongoing developmental drilling and field mapping of O'Brien projects in the East Texas Basin. She brings a wealth of academic and professional experience to the position.
Qiu holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Petroleum in Dongying, China, and a Masters in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences from Purdue University. She began her career in petroleum geology as an engineer at the Oil Instrument Institute of the Sichuan Oil Company in Sichuan, China. While teaching at the University of Petroleum in Dongying, she was part of the team that designed and implemented an artificial intelligence system for oil reservoir evaluation. The project won an award for advancing new technologies from the U.S. Department of Energy. Qiu also designed, developed, and implemented software mapping programs for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Blackland Research Center in Temple, Texas. Qiu joined the O'Brien team as a Development Geologist in 2005.
