Jim Thomas - Vice President, Land
Jim Thomas' thirty-plus year career in the oil and gas industry started when he took a job as a scout for Marathon Oil Company in 1980. He left a position as plant supervisor at a Shreveport steel operation to go with Marathon. He'll tell you it was one of the best decisions he ever made.
Jim scouted for Marathon, checking out drilling and lease-buying activity in certain areas, in Houston, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan before establishing himself as an Independent Petroleum Landman in Shreveport. His client list included major corporations such as Monsanto and Diamond Shamrock, as well as smaller independents such as the well established Crow Oil Company in Shreveport. He joined Crow full time as Land Manager in 1983. When the Crow organization merged with O'Brien Energy Company in 2000, Jim came aboard with O'Brien in as Senior Administrative Landman. He was promoted to Vice President of Land for O'Brien in 2007.
Jim Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen and the Ark-La-Tex Association of Petroleum Landmen.
